The Nashville art scene is one of many communities in the city to host free shows for the public. Whether you enjoy paintings, sculptures or other fine art forms, there are several places in Nashville to find impressive artwork to marvel at. These are the gallery shows that every art enthusiast should check out this spring.

First Saturday Art Crawl

On the first Saturday of every month, Nashville area art galleries open their doors to present artwork from local and world-renowned artists during the First Saturday Art Crawl. Over 20 venues participate in the free event, which is held downtown from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Every art form is on display, allowing guests to appreciate the many different works that the galleries share through their exhibits. Spring dates for 2017 are April 1 and May 6.

Arts & Music at Wedgewood/Houston

A recent addition to the First Saturday Art Crawl is Arts & Music at Wedgewood/Houston (WeHo). It’s a free show that invites guests to walk through the WeHo neighborhood and enjoy art and music provided by galleries, studios, and co-working spaces. The show is 100% local and takes you through galleries like David Lusk Gallery and Zeitgeist Gallery. Beginning at 6 p.m., this Saturday night show will be held on April 1 and May 6.

East Side Art Stumble

Held the second Saturday of each month, the East Side Art Stumble is an art show held in East Nashville. The event is put on by local businesses and galleries that hope to bring people to East Nashville to admire the artistic talents the neighborhood has to offer. The event is rain or shine and is hosted by several venues in the area from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The dates for spring 2017 are April 8 and May 13.

Art on the West Side

Held at the Gordon Jewish Community Center, Art on the West Side features local and regional artists ranging from painters, jewelry makers and sculptors, to fiber artists and glass artists. The event will be held on Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23. Day one includes a cocktail reception and preview sale from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a $15 suggested donation, and the second day will feature activities for children in conjunction with the Frist Center for the Visual Arts. The event is free and open to the public and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A percentage of all sales benefits the Gordon Jewish Community Center.
