On the barrier island of the same name, Isle of Palms is a resort town near the Old South city of Charleston. The resort stretches alongside miles of white-sanded Atlantic beach on one side and waterways on the other and has been a popular getaway since the 19th century. Today, it has a quiet, upscale feel.
