Wanting to create a place where they could share the food of their country, a group of friends from France
opened La Provence in Lake Oswego, Oregon in 1996. Today it includes Petite Provence
, which has three locations throughout Portland. A lovely boulangerie and patisserie, these venues serve a tantalizing array of baked goods plus full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. Diners can opt for a baked treat with their coffee or go for something heartier, like risotto cakes made with bacon, asparagus, mushrooms, red onions, and basil topped with poached eggs accompanied by Provençal potatoes and butternut squash. There are also sweet options, including the bread pudding soufflé with apricots, goat cheese, and apple crème anglaise.
