Founded by two entrepreneurial friends, Meg He and Nina Faulhaber, ADAY is a label for women who are going places, professionally and physically.
The brand’s 27-piece capsule collection is defined by thoughtful design that adds a sense of ease to your life — one you didn’t even know was missing. Think leather-look panels and metallic zips for an aesthetic that’s boardroom-slick, plus moisture-wicking fabrics with stretch and aeration that keep you comfortable at the gym. Versatility is built into each and every piece, so you’re prepared for however the day unfolds.
We caught up with the co-founders (who recently landed a spot on Forbes 30 Under 30 list) to talk personal health hacks and the business of athleisure.
ADAY was inspired by the woman who lives life on her terms. She’s present, she’s smart, she lives a happy-healthy life, but her most scarce resource is time. We both lived super active lifestyles before ADAY — running from meetings to lunch, then off to the airport — so we needed a wardrobe that could keep up with us. There are apps to make everything easier and quicker, so why can’t there be a clothing brand that adapts with you as you speed through your day?
Each of our items is designed at our offices in New York and London, with the demands of the modern woman in mind. We aim to create transitional pieces, so with each item in our collection we sit as a team and discuss the journey of that piece. We don’t think of ourselves as an activewear brand, nor strictly fashion either. We are where fashion and technology merge, creating clothing that places equal emphasis on design and performance.
Fabric is a vital element of our process. While we love fabrics such as silk and cashmere, we like to re-imagine them with versatility in mind. We’re extremely proud of the intelligent fabrics we use. They’re what enable ADAY’s pieces to meet the everyday demands women put them through, while delivering a high quality finish and aesthetic.
Nina: Personally, I’d have to go with the Hail Yes Trackpants. They are so comfy and hang perfectly, so they became my go to pants very quickly. Meg: My current favorite has to be the Strike it Up Bra. It’s one of our most recent releases and it’s a bit of a milestone piece for the brand. So much work and development went into creating the perfect fit with the best fabric. It makes me realize how far we’ve come. Oh, and it’s great for everything — running, yoga, swimming, or under a shirt for dinner.
Nina: Hydration! I know it’s a pretty basic one, but it’s so easy to fall asleep or get carried away with working while traveling. Of course drink water, but take time to ensure your skin is hydrated too with a good quality moisturizer.
Meg: I love travel apps, and actually Instagram is a great one. Use it to find cool bars and restaurants so you can dazzle your friends with local knowledge.
Wellness is one of the main drivers behind the ADAY philosophy. We want to make getting dressed easier so we have more time to do the fun, active and social things we really want to do. ADAY has allowed both work and play to seamlessly mesh. As a team we believe in being active and health conscious. We cook team breakfasts and take classes together before meetings (or sometimes on our lunch breaks).
We are working on extending our collection, so it’s a really exciting time in the office. Every week we’re getting samples back for altering and improving ahead of launch.
