Thanks to a new service that delivers freshly laundered fitness attire directly to your studio of choice, you can now pack a little lighter.
Routinely is an activewear rental company that works similarly to fashion services like Rent the Runway. You select the pieces you want—tanks, leggings, sneakers etc.—from brands like Under Armor, Outdoor Voices, and Lululemon, then specify the time and drop-off location. They can deliver to your hotel or directly to the studio, and they’ll even throw in a free hair tie for good measure.
Once your class is complete, put the whole ensemble into the provided packaging and drop it anywhere that accepts USPS or FedEx packages. Or, if you ordered to a hotel or partner gym, just leave it with reception on your way out.
You get three days to complete the return, so if you aired the clothing out properly or did a less sweat-producing class you can wear it more than once. The service is ideal if you’re a fitness fanatic visiting New York who wants to test-drive the coolest workouts across the city without overloading your carry-on.
If the thought of wearing previously-worn activewear gives you the “icks,” insight into Routinely’s rigorous cleaning process will put your mind at rest. The company ensures all clothing is thoroughly, commercially washed, and sneakers are sanitized with UV light technology. Insoles are replaced frequently, and the socks are brand new and yours to keep.
The service is pretty affordable too. Single items—tank top, sports bra, leggings, socks, sneakers—are $6 to rent individually, or you can get the complete kit with all the aforementioned pieces for $10. The clothes without the sneakers cost $8, and to specify a certain brand, Routinely charges an extra $2.
Right now Routinely is only available in New York, but the company has plans to expand to more cities very soon.
