Given West’s tumultuous fall, which included, cancelling his Saint Pablo tour and then, according to the Associated Press, the rapper/designer was hospitalized at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for stress and exhaustion, where West was placed on psychiatric hold. Finally, soon after his release, West had a bizarre meeting with then President-elect Trump, where it was rumored West would be appointed to Trump’s cabinet. Given these #FACTS, many are wondering if West’s fifth show will actually happen this NYFW.
Indeed, West’s Yeezy line will show at NYFW on February, 15 at 3 p.m. at Pier59 Studios, according to WWD.
Last season, West kept editors waiting for details of the show’s destination, which was kept under wraps until the last minute. An hour before the show, buses took editors to Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island, where models stood for over an hour in the blazing heat, and one Yeezy model collapsed. The press railed against West and his magnificent display of minimalism gone awry, with Esquire calling the Season Four Yeezy show a “total failure,” and The New York Times fashion editor taking to the Twitterverse pointing out that models shouldn’t be fainting.
Of course, there were some fans of West’s Season Four show:
Season Three of Yeezy, which was held in Madison Square Garden and had Anna Wintour, Jay Z, and the Kardashian family sitting front row, was more of a critical success. In this show, West brought together the worlds of high fashion and hip-hop seamlessly, and the melange worked in his favor.
So, the question becomes, what can fans expect from Season Five’s show? This isn’t just fashion, it’s show business enveloped in the world of celebrity; and everybody loves a comeback.
