One of the most iconic urban outdoor summer events is film screenings. This year, take outdoor movie watching to the next level by doing it onboard The Intrepid. The former aircraft carrier, located right on the Hudson, is one of the coolest venues to sit back and take in a film. But the absolute best part is that the event is free.
EVENT | ELEMENTS Music & Art Festival
📅 Saturday, August 12th & Sunday, August 13th
The elements in nature inspire this weekend-long festival. The big headliner is Flying Lotus, but there are plenty of other reasons to attend the festival. There are immersive, large-scale art installations, circus performers wandering about, and, of course, stalls from some of New York City’s best food vendors.

EVENT | Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival
📅 Saturday, August 12th & Sunday, August 13th
Celebrate New York’s multiculturalism at the weekend dragon boat race at Flushing Meadows Park. For those who haven’t experienced dragon boating before, we highly recommend it. Not only are the boats themselves fantastically decorated, but it’s pretty awe-inspiring to watch a team of people paddle their oars like lightning in perfect synchronicity.

Plus, it’s in Radio City and Dave Chappelle will be there, so you really can’t lose.
