April showers bring May flowers! Or so they say—let’s hope that this April doesn’t see too many showers because there is a lot to do in New York City this month. Since the first day of spring debuted, people are itching to finally go out and do some outdoor activities. So get out and about with these great events and activities going on this April in New York City.

SATURDAY, APRIL 1st – SATURDAY, APRIL 8th

EVENT | Macy’s Flower Show

📅 Saturday, April 1st – Sunday, April 9th

Macy’s isn’t just known for it famous Thanksgiving Day Parade, but its annual flower show is also one to mark on your calendar. Each spring, Macy’s decorates its iconic flagship store in Herald Square with all kinds of flowers. It’s a real treat to walk through the store and see the fresh blooms lining the ceilings, walkways, and escalators.

BROADWAY | Hello, Dolly! on Broadway

📅 Starting April 1st

Bette Midler is the latest meddler in Broadway’s revival of the classic Hello, Dolly! show. Check out this version with family and friends, and you’ll be singing the show tunes the rest of the month. It’s sure to be a treat to see another iconic actress take on the role of Dolly.

PARTY | The Black Party

Are you feeling kinky? Well, this is your chance to let your sex fetishes run wild! New York City’s notorious 18-hour bacchanalia Black Party takes place on April 1st, and it’s a campy mix of S&M that might just be what you need to get the month started off right! It is generally an event geared toward gay men, but that shouldn’t stop anyone from wanting to experience it! It’s turning 38 this year with a new creative director behind it—it’s more than just a party: it’s a production.

Stars like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Hanks are already lined up to talk at one of the festival’s events.

FESTIVAL | Bacon and Beer Festival

FESTIVAL | Cherry Blossom Festival

Get ready for an exceptional two days in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens where the park showcases its cherry blossoms in honor of Japan’s Sakura Festival. Visiting this event is a lovely way to spend the afternoon: strolling under the cherry blossoms and taking in some of Japan’s most coveted treats. And guess what? You don’t have to fly 14 hours to a foreign land to see the blossoms (unless you consider Brooklyn a foreign land).
