Go Global At The 45th Annual International African Arts Festival

Picture of Culture Trip
Updated: 28 June 2016
The International African Arts Festival (IAAF) returns to NYC streets for its astounding 45th year. The IAAF launched in 1971 as a Bed-Stuy PTA block party and fundraiser. Attracting nearly 2,000 participants, the event was more than a success, and subsequently began a cultural legacy that now spans over four decades. This year, a team of board members, consultants, seasonal staff, and volunteers work together to create an “outdoor African cultural oasis” in a Brooklyn park, celebrating both traditional and contemporary African art forms. With over 100 participating vendors and small business, the IAAF promises stunning crafts, jewelry, clothing, artifacts, furniture, and mouthwatering Caribbean, African, and Latin fare.

📅 Friday, July 1st – Monday, July 4th, 2016: Various times
