Miracle on Ninth Street, at Mace
Mace, one of the World’s 50 Best Bars and also among our personal favorites in NYC, is the original home of the Miracle concept which, as of this year, has spread to more than 50 locations worldwide. It returns for its fourth holiday season with festive drinks like the Muletide (mezcal, amontillado sherry, allspice dram, ginger, lemon) served up in custom Cocktail Kingdom glassware, and the bar decked out with lights and holiday tchotchkes. Miracle on Ninth Street runs from November 25 through December 24.
Sleyenda, at Leyenda
The bar normally known as Leyenda is going fierce and fabulous for the holidays, honoring female pop icons (think Beyonce, Whitney, Mariah) with a wintery bent. There’ll be glittery decor and a steady stream of hits from the ladies we love; the menu includes cocktails such as the We Three Queens, with vodka, mezcal, gin, rum, vermouth, sherry, frankincense, myrrh, and gold. Sleyenda starts November 30 and runs through December 27.
Sippin’ Santa’s Surf Shack, at Boilermaker
The holidays go tropical at Sippin’ Santa’s Surf Shack, held at bartender favorite Boilermaker. A Beach Boys Christmas album incarnate, the bar features wintery versions of its namesake pint-and-shot combos like a Revolution Fistmas red ale with a gingerbread shooter, as well as cocktails like the Holiday Lei, with gin, sparkling wine, fresh lemon, and cranberry. Sippin’ Santa’s Surf Shack runs from November 27 through December 24.
Miracle on the Harbor, at Pier A Harbor House
A new member of the Miracle family, Pier A Harbor House (which is also home to BlackTail, one of the city’s best cocktail bars) is joining the holiday fun this year with festive decor and cocktails like the Christmapolitan (vodka, elderflower, dry vermouth, spiced cranberry sauce, rosemary, lime, absinthe mist). Miracle on the Harbor runs from November 24 until December 24.
Holiday Cocktail Factory, at LOCL Bar at the NYLO hotel
Holiday Cocktail Factory is popping up at LOCL Bar with whimsical drinks inspired by Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Expect drinks adorned with edible glitter; or, like the Goodie Goodie Gumballs (tequila, elderflower, cranberry) served in gumball machines. The bar’s decor gets in on the candy theme with giant lollipops, a candy-cane handrail, and mushroom-shaped seats. And yes, there will be Golden Tickets: five given out every night, redeemable for two free drinks during the duration of the pop-up. Holiday Cocktail Factory opens December 1 and runs all the way through February.
