On September 6, DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) will bid the last rays of summer a charitable adieu with their annual Picnic By Design on The Rooftop of Stage 48 – and it’s all for a good cause.

DIFFA’s summer celebration highlights the works of 20 designers and manufacturers, including Andrea Schumacher Interiors, Mitchell Hill, Dwell Studio, and more. The end-of-summer rooftop soirée features a series of uniquely crafted picnic basket designs, handcrafted cocktails, seasonal bites, and of course, stunning city views.

But don’t expect to find picnic food and plastic cutlery inside: Last year, the curated baskets contained colorful plates, luxe throws, elegant lighting, and even Cuban rum.

Each year the participating designers auction off their whimsical picnic basket designs, with all proceeds benefiting DIFFA’s mission to combat HIV/AIDS in the United States.

So whether you’re trying to get a little design inspiration for upcoming fall picnics or just prepare for stylish outings on Governors Island, DIFFA’s ‘altruistic’ design event may just be where it’s at.
