Family operated Iris Café #9 caters to the tastes of New Yorkers by serving holiday themed menus in a creative New American style. It has quickly become a must-stop waterfront spot in Brooklyn Heights for its local roots and specialized menus. We find out more.

Iris Café #9 started eight years ago as a space that brothers and co-owners Radi Hamden and Salah Hamden had conceived of while growing up in the neighborhood. In an area lacking cafes and restaurants, Iris Café #9 stands out as one of the few dining establishments in a 10-block radius, and has quickly garnered clout as a go-to spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Part café, part restaurant, part bar, Iris Café #9 is nestled along the waterfront in the quaint neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights.

An inventive menu, delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere has endowed Iris Café #9 with a dedicated following. The waiters are attentive and knowledgeable while the brick walls and dark mahogany furniture seemingly transports diners to a romantic, secluded cabin. Twisting, sculptural vines by installation artist Charlie Baker adorn the walls and ceilings, imbuing the space with a rustic, homey aesthetic. These small details create an intimate, cozy environment, perfect to share with loved ones.

On seasonal holidays such as Valentine’s Day, Iris Café #9 crafts a delectable seven-course menu that highlights their attention to detail and culinary abilities. Champagne, black pearls and oysters accompany the likes of beef tartar and monkfish salad. Presenting simple yet scrumptious regional cuisine alongside special dishes showcasing an eclectic side to the chefs’ culinary talents, Iris Café #9 meets all of your dining needs.

Iris Café #9 demonstrates mastery and skill as a small but renowned restaurant. When asked why couples should dine at Iris Café #9, Salah stated, “It’s a charming space at night, and it’s cozy for couples. I feel like the menu we are putting out is a wow factor. As good as it looks on paper, it doesn’t do the food justice. We are prepared to make our couples feel excited, warm, cozy, and tingly.”

Walk-ins are welcome, but making reservations guarantees seating. Make your way down to Iris Café #9 through quiet cobble stone streets filled with lights and feel the cool breeze from the Brooklyn Bridge Park’s waterfront nearby.
