Over 2,000 artists have graced the stage of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival since its inception back in 1979. The list includes music giants such as Isaac Hayes, David Byrne, Bob Dylan, The National, T.V. on the Radio, Norah Jones, and Prince. Celebrate Brooklyn!’s combination of music, dance, and film keeps fans coming back for more year after year; over 250,000 patrons attend annually during its two and a half month-long run.
The settings within Prospect Park make the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival particularly special. Endowed with cozy natural settings, wonderful sight lines, impeccable sound engineering, a fantastic band shell, and a concession stand that can hold its own, featuring fare from the best restaurants in the neighborhood, paired with the unmatched talent and energy on stage, make for an absolutely unforgettable night out.
This year’s lineup might be one of the best they have ever assembled, opening the evening of June 8th with the sensational R&B sounds of Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. In the coming weeks, the groundbreaking indie alt-rock band The Violent Femmes will be on hand for an evening of edgy, confessional anthems.
Alt-country mainstay Josh Ritter, Steven Colbert’s band leader Jon Batiste, and hip-hop mainstays Digable Planets are amongst the upcoming highlights visitors can anticipate in July 2016. August brings in the likes of Philadelphia’s Dr. Dog, and the closing night of the festival will showcase R&B artists Andra Day and Son Little.
This year’s benefit shows, which fill its coffers in order to keep the talent coming in the future, include The Lumineers, Tame Impala, and jazz legend Herbie Hancock. The best seats will go quickly, so be sure to arrive early.
The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival will run from June 8th through August 2016.
