In March, the Saatchi Gallery and Christie’s auction house will team up for Handpicked: 100 Artists Selected by The Saatchi Gallery. The event will auction off 100 artworks by 100 exceptional contemporary artists, with 50 going on sale in New York City and 50 for sale in London.

Straight from Charles Saatchi’s collection, all 100 artworks for sale in Handpicked represent the finest contemporary talent. Pieces by artists hailing from the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, Costa Rica, and South Korea will be on view before going to auction, including work by Turner Prize-winners Anthea Hamilton and Laure Prouvost.

With price points ranging from £1,000 to £35,000, Handpicked is the perfect opportunity for aspiring art collectors to invest in pieces of significant artistic value.

Proposed highlights of the London auction include “Light Perpetual by Conrad Shawcross, an articulated arm with a single lightbulb at the end that rotates at a speed of 200rpm within a giant cage (estimate: £10,000-15,000); and a series of 30 portraits by Annie Kevans depicting the faces of dictators as children, some actual and some invented (estimate: £18,000-25,000),” according to Christie’s pre-auction statement.

Oakland, California, vividly capturing the tension and pride in the pose of a 17-year old killed by police (estimate: $35,000-45,000); Amansalva by Federico Herrero, a painting that exemplifies the artist’s vibrant abstract language (estimate: $15,000-20,000) and Dana Schutz’s portrait of an albino woman (estimate: $12,000-18,000).”

Handpicked will take place at Christie’s South Kensington in London on March 10th, with a preview from March 4th through the 9th. The New York City preview at Christie’s in Rockefeller Plaza will take place from March 18th through the 21st, with 50 works going to auction on March 22nd.
