From dive bars to sprawling nightclubs, the LGBTQ venues near Paradise Road, UNLV and McCarran Airport in Las Vegas are great for an evening of dancing and drinking. Get your groove on at one of the nightspots located in the area known as the Fruit Loop.

Though the Las Vegas Strip often steals the thunder by being the go-to place for bars and nightclubs, venues located outside this main area offer a thriving nightlife scene worth exploring. We spoke to Adam Simmons, owner of Iconic – Vegas’ newest LGBTQ nightclub – about where to go for a fun night of drinks, music and dancing.

Located just east of Paradise Road near the Strip is the laid-back, Western-inspired Fun Hog Ranch, a no-frills venue with wood paneling that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a country bar miles away from the neon lights of Las Vegas. The interior of the bar has a rustic feel, creating a relaxed atmosphere where fetish wear is encouraged but not required. Unlike many of the city’s bars, Fun Hog Ranch has a drinks menu that keeps things simple and cheap. Expect late-night happy hours with $2 beers, drinks and tequila shot specials. If you’re looking to visit in the middle of the week, they also have sweet deals on ‘Tea Time Tuesdays’, which feature $5 Long Island Iced Teas and wild revelry until 1am.

The newest addition to the LGBTQ nightlife scene, Iconic Nightclub brings something different to the bunch. “I opened Iconic because the scene here in Vegas is smaller than you would imagine,” Simmons says. Located in Chinatown, the nightclub features go-go dancers, a stage with a runway and an upscale environment that’s home to packed dance parties. On Hip-Hop Thursdays, daring guests can get free drinks if they undress down to their underwear. “It’s not like Chelsea or The Castro. I’m a Broadway boy, so I created this full-on production with costumes and sets, so it’s more than just a girl getting up and doing a number. People seem to really enjoy it,” Simmons says.
