The Ham Shop Cafe is a rarity in Detroit– a soul food breakfast spot located in Old Greektown. The Shoppe actually offers one of the best breakfast menus. As the name alludes, the Ham Shoppe offers prime breakfast meats that are accompanied with the classic eggs or pancakes. The ham is famous for thickness and flavor. The lunch menu is storied and includes burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads.

Mudgie’s Deli is locally known for their decorative sandwiches that feature an array of deli meats, poultry or a vegetarian option. Their brunch menu, however, focuses on breakfast options, certain sandwiches from the main menu, and items crafted specifically for the brunch crowd. Huevos rancheros, the bacon waffle, and a tuna melt are all on the Sundays menu, along with their classic deli sandwiches (the Gutty). Mudgie’s brunch also includes deals on brunch drinks, which include the classics like mimosas and Bloody Marys. This is a never-fail brunch hub.

This is a small, locally sourced diner that dishes out breakfast and lunch fare. The dishes are Canadian-American inspired and range from in-house made scones to variations of quiche. Their face-value approach to the Canadian poutine has been perfected (as the co-owners are both Canadian). An abandoned shop turned breakfast spot, the Brooklyn Street Local is a rags-to-riches restaurant that offers some of the finest grub in the city.
