Not only is it the main port of entry for water-borne visitors, but the Cruiseport of Boston– and the wider Seaport area it belongs to – is one of the city’s hottest neighborhoods. Populated with microbreweries, artisanal bakeries and high-end restaurants, you won’t have to go far for something delicious to eat or drink here – especially if you’re staying at one of these nearby hotels, all bookable with Culture Trip.

You’ll feel a real connection to the Seaport area heritage when you bed down in this converted warehouse. The large, upscale studios and suites really lean into the light industrial aesthetic without losing that luxury feel, with exposed beam ceilings, chunky factory-style windows and the original red brick walls serving as a rugged backdrop for sleek stainless steel kitchenettes, generous L-shaped sofas and bold pops of color.

2. The Revolution Hotel

The modern, chic digs here tread the line between sleek Scandi simplicity – with whitewashed walls, a monochromatic color palette and mid-century-style furniture – and rough-around-the-edges industrial, with raw concrete and exposed ductwork in the public areas. Whatever it is, it’s beautiful and we love it.

3. Boston Harbor Hotel

You’ll be sure to get the blues when you check into this harbor-front hotel – in a good way. The rooms have a singular maritime-toned color palette, with splashes of navy, royal blue and teal harmonizing expertly to paint a feeling of restful, refined luxury. A Nespresso coffee maker, bath products by boutique brand Diptyque and a marble-clad bathroom add the final flourish. Keeping things on-brand, there’s an excellent in-house seafood restaurant – Rowes Wharf Sea Grille – for when you fancy pushing the boat out.

5. The Liberty, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Boston

Ever thought you’d be spending the night banged-up in Boston? Check into this former jail and you’ll be serving your time in style. There’s nothing else like it in the city – the central atrium, once the jail’s inner courtyard, houses restaurants and bars – one wryly named The Clink. Rooms are a far cry from the cells of old, with plush leather headboards and clever artwork, such as a framed set of antique keys.

6. The Lenox Hotel Boston

A block from the shops of Newbury Street and a twenty-minute walk from Fenway Park – home of the Boston Red Sox – we think this 1900-built beaux-arts building sums up what the city is all about. As well as housing a classic Irish pub, there’s also an uber-sophisticated restaurant – Sólás – and a buzzy breakfast cafe, City Table. It’s equal parts friendly and sophisticated, classic and contemporary, which the rooms with their Italian marble bathrooms, Bose sound systems and cozy fireplaces, will attest to.

7. The Envoy Hotel

There are some curious details to be found at the Envoy. For starters, take the TV stands in the bedrooms, which have been designed to look like they were cobbled together from bicycle parts, complete with the wheel still attached. Take too, the giant chandelier in the lobby, a modernist tangle of yellow beads. That said, it’s not all eccentricities – the views from the Lookout rooftop bar are no joke.

8. The Godfrey Hotel Boston

Handsome guestrooms, a stunning historic façade, RUKA Restobar and excellent coffee are all on the menu at this boutique hotel. A minutes’ walk from the Downtown Crossing T station, this pre-war building is a five-minute walk from Boston Common park and fifteen from New England Aquarium. The calming, classically designed rooms feature ultra-fast wifi, luxury linens, widescreen televisions, Bose speakers and smartphone-to-TV media streaming, whilst the wider amenities include a bar, coffee shop and 24hr gym.
