Clark University is a liberal arts school famed for small class sizes and globally-focused degree programs. Just outside Worcester, an hour from Boston by car, you can also check out the Art Museum and Elm Park from the comfort of these hotels.

A few nights in such soothing, latte-colored rooms will feel like a walk in the park, especially when you actually can take a walk in Worcester Common park, next door. It’ll be hard to resist sinking into the sofa of the corner king room, letting the sun give way to the moon as you lose yourself in a good book. Grab tapas and a craft beer at the AC Lounge and thumb through another chapter or two as you graze.

Staying in these homey studios and suites can keep you active while you relax. It goes without saying that the year-round indoor pool and free weights will keep you reasonably fit. What’s a stretch, though, is trying to fit in so much leisure when there’s a court for tennis, volleyball, and basketball ready for you to get your game on.

All of Worcester’s attractions are within reach of this relaxed hotel with an inviting living-room-style lobby, although you’ll spend most of your time in two places. The first is your deluxe room’s balcony, where morning lattes and evening cocktails from the Bistro taste better al fresco. The second will surely be the nearby Worcester Art Museum, where antiques from your favorite periods in European and American history are on display.

Under an hour by car from downtown Boston, you’ll be able to fit in a visit once you’ve soaked up Worcester’s wonderful sights.
