So you finally decide to visit Baltimore, Maryland, but you don’t want to venture into the typical tourist places. That’s fair. But instead of going to all of the usual places, why not sample a few gourmet burgers? Or why not go for a jump through the air and see what happens? Here are some of the most non-touristy experiences in Maryland that you will take you off of the beaten path and throw you into amazing local experiences.

1. Visit The Abbey Burger Bistro.

2. Say hello to the Captain.

The Blue Moon Café is another place that all of the locals visit either for a late-night snack, early morning brunch or a getaway lunch adventure. Skyzone is a great place to hang out with friends and family. Skyzone is a high-energy indoor trampoline park that makes it so that you have no choice but to have fun. You are able to play basketball, dodgeball or just bounce around to see how high you can go. 5. Taste gourmet ice cream at Fell's Point Creamery.

6. Go bowling in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The White Oak Bowling Lanes are a Silver Spring hidden gem. This bowling lane specializes in duckpin bowling. Duckpin bowling can be just as fun as regular bowling. 7. Go for a run around Lake Montebello.

Lake Montebello is a great outdoor lake that has walking trails surrounding its vast body of water. This lake is also located within a small community that contains a technical high school, Mergenthaler High School. There are also many health-conscious people who love to walk, jog and bike around this lake early in the morning and late in the evening. If you’re looking to take a break from the city and want to enjoy peaceful surroundings, Lake Montebello is a good place to visit.

8. Grab a bite of sushi.

Sushi Q2 is a perfect place to grab a quick bite of sushi and enjoy an evening out with friends. This small establishment is located in an active shopping center that contains a laundromat, dentist office and nail salon. 9. Visit horses at Sagamore Farm.

Sagamore Farm is a whimsical place that breeds and races horses. Many of the horses at Sagamore Farm have been raced. This farm also holds international recognition for its horses. In 2007, Kevin Plank, owner of Under Armour, purchased Sagamore Farm, and he has a team to assist him in managing the farm. Sagamore Farm also hosts a variety of fall festivals, and sometimes you are able to view some of the horses while they are training.

10. See an outdoor movie at the Columbia Lakefront Stage.

In the summertime, the Columbia Lakefront Stage is the place to be as there are a variety of events that take place on the lakefront. There are live musical concerts, outdoor family movie nights, free dance instruction and more. If you love family movie nights, the Columbia Lakefront Stage has a calendar of events that allow you to plan ahead to determine which movie you would like to see. Simply bring a lawn chair, a blanket, plenty of snacks, food and wine and snuggle in for a cozy night underneath the stars.

11. Sip away at Union Craft Brewing.

Union Craft Brewing is a great place to relax, unwind and sip away at a local brewery. Union Craft Brewing is located in the Woodberry area of Baltimore, and it prides itself on serving the community. This establishment was founded in 2011 by Jon Zerivitz, Adam Benesch and Kevin Blodger, who began their operations in 2012. This beer is the perfect combination of hops, yeast, barley and water.
