Ocean City in Maryland is known for its bustling atmosphere and activities for beach-bound holidaymakers. When you’re not on the sand, you can play minigolf at one of several themed courses along Coastal Highway, spend a day at the Jolly Roger water park, enjoy the rides on the boardwalk or take to the water. As the largest beach destination in the area, Ocean City has countless places to stay. Here’s our selection of the best hotels, bookable on Culture Trip.

1. Princess Bayside Beach Hotel, for golf and glow kayaking

If serious golf is more your style, then this is a great choice. The Princess Bayside Beach Hotel partners with a nearby golf course, so you can spend time on the green during your vacation. The hotel’s most distinctive feature is its ecofriendly watersports area, where you can rent a variety of small boats and paddleboards – you can even go glow kayaking in an illuminated boat at night. If you prefer chlorinated swims, there’s also both an indoor and outdoor pool. When you need to cool down from the sun, walk next door to Dumser’s for the best ice cream in Ocean City.

2. Bonita Beach Hotel, for movies on the beach

Escape the noise of downtown at this family-friendly spot, further north on the Coastal Highway. When you stay here you’ll be just a block away from the sand, so you won’t have to haul your beach supplies far – head there on Wednesdays and you can catch a free movie. Inside, enjoy the games room or relax at the indoor pool and sundeck. When it comes to food, you’re close enough to walk to donuts at the original Fractured Prune – a staple for Maryland and Delaware beachgoers – and fresh seafood at Hooked restaurant.

3. Marigot Beach Suites - Oceanfront, for a self-catering beach retreat

Some even come with a separate dining room – perfect for hosting friends or family dinners. When you stay here, you have access to an indoor pool with a hot tub, as well as an outdoor pool at the neighboring Fontainebleau Hotel, where you’ll find varied dining options. With the boardwalk 4mi (6.5km) south, you’re far away enough to enjoy a relaxed beach retreat, yet close enough to the action when you want a night on the town.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
