Garden District is an area of Uptown New Orleans infamous for its 19th century mansions. (Sandra Bullock owns a home in this area). There is an option for a tour taken on one of those buses that is a dead tourist giveaway. However, this is an ideal district for a scenic, laid-back stroll.
One of New Orleans’s best dive bars, the Mayfair Lounge is gowned in Christmas lights, Mardi Gras beads and masks, and classic dive bar wood-paneling. Mayfair is not only the watering hole for a good time, it is also home to the cheapest drinks in uptown.

Po-boys are inherently a New Orleans staple. However, po-boys and donuts together is something unique even to New Orleans. No-frills counter service, Freret Street is a one stop shop for breakfast and lunch while being the most popular joint in the area.
Around since the 1930s, Hansen’s has perfected the sno-ball. Finely shaved ice, an assortment of syrups, and with topping options like whipped cream or ice cream, Hansen’s sno-balls are the best on the block. It’s still kept simple and sold from the stand, though. Fame hasn’t gotten to their heads.
