When planning for a tattoo, you want to make sure you’re being inked by the best. Ben Lewis, better known as Ben Wahhh of Deluxe Tattoo Chicago, is a Chicago-based tattoo artist that heads one of the best tattoo studios in the city. He’s incredibly talented, driven, and opinionated, and The Culture Trip got a chance to ask him some questions.

What is the most unusual request you’ve had?

To go to a porno shoot with a customer. I didn’t.

What do you wish you had known when you were first starting off as a tattoo artist?

That everything will be fine. There have been some high anxiety moments in my career. One day I was driving to work having a freak out about getting a drawing done, and I had a realization that it always works out. Since then I experience much less anxiety.

What’s next?

Hopefully lots and lots more of the same.

How soon do you check your phone in the morning?

Within a minute or two of waking up.

What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

Awake to my one-year-old baby talking, and if it’s 5AM or 6AM, we get up and hang out.

How would you describe your tattoo style in 80 characters?

Detailed and involved. Not your run-of-the-mill tattoos.

Game of Thrones or Harry Potter?

Game of Thrones.
