The Second City is a world-renowned comedy center because of its excessive amount of famous alumni and its incredible ability to improve presentational skills by becoming more comfortable in your own skin. Its exceptional variety of classes range from improv to film to writing, and with the recent expansion, the Second City Training Center is the new mecca of comedy classes. In this article, we dive into the overall space which further proves why this is the mecca – it’s full of phenomenal resources. Although these pictures will not reveal its enormous size, they’re guaranteed to dazzle you with the amount of space Second City has decided to dedicate to training incoming students in the heart of Old Town.
The new space features many blowup pictures of the famous alumni – as you can see Tina Fey, Chris Farley, and Steve Carrell, to name a few.
The older space also displays the alumni proudly – very inspirational for many of the center’s improv students.

The views from some of the classrooms aren’t too shabby either, with iconic skyscrapers like Willis Tower visible.
The new space even has a new bar and restaurant; the 1959 has student discounts for any Second City Training Center students and even includes $3.50 wine nights.
Current students may recognize the lobby outside of Donny’s Skybox Theatre as a nerve-wracking place since this is also the waiting room for all auditions.
Clearly there are plenty of ways to get involved, and no one is shy to post about it on the center’s cluttered bulletin boards.
The Harold Ramis Film School will be opening in August 2016.
Last but not least, Tina Fey’s rules of improvisation are hysterical but also very applicable to help and encourage currently enrolled improv students.
