Atlanta is a city filled with many diverse communities and cultures. Proud of its support for the Irish community, Atlanta’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the longest running event in the southern metropolis. There are so many ways to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland that it can seem a bit overwhelming. Not to worry, we’ve got you covered. Whether it’s a plate of Irish nachos or a pint of Guinness, discover the best places to celebrate St.Patrick’s Day in Atlanta. Wearing green is not required but definitely recommended.

1. Fado Irish Pub

Bar, Irish

Located in Midtown Atlanta, Fado Irish Pub is one of the city’s favorite Irish watering holes. Fadó (pronounced f’doe) is Gaelic for “long ago” is committed to telling the story of Ireland’s rich and lively pub culture. Established more than 20 years ago, the whisk(e)y list is impressive and the beer selection won’t disappoint.

2. The Elder Tree Public House

Bar, Irish

Nestled in the hip East Atlanta Village, The Elder Tree is a modern bar with an Irish twist. The spacious bar has large flat screens so you won’t miss any game that might be playing that day. The bar’s favorite is soccer. With plenty of beer on tap, we recommend you try the Irish cheddar dip, the smoked wings or corned beef and cabbage.

3. Limerick Junction Irish Pub

Bar, Irish

Located in the trendy Virginia Highland area in Atlanta, Limmerick Junction is Atlanta’s oldest Irish pub. The atmosphere is casual but definitely festive. The regulars love the Guinness wings and the Irish sliders. On St. Patrick’s Day the pub opens at noon, boasts live Irish music and even festive face-painting.

5. Meehan's Public House

Bar, Irish

Meehan’s has five locations, but for St. Patty’s Day, we recommend the Buckhead location. It’s not your run-of-the-mill Irish pub. After you’ve had a couple of pints, check out the pool table. The menu features authentic Irish fare with a gourmet twist, and it even has vegetarian options. You don’t want to miss out on the shepherd’s pie and Irish bangers and mash.

6. Rí Rá Irish Pub

Bar, Irish

Located in Midtown, the decor of the Rí Rá, including the mid-19th-century bar complete with Victorian snugs and the parquet floor are actually imported from Ireland. The menu is mostly locally sourced and includes Irish favorites like banger bites and fish and chips. But if you’re looking for something a little different, the menu also includes pan-seared salmon and an excellent chicken dish.
