This guide is for all of the fabulous young gay men and women out there that are coming to Ft. Lauderdale and need to know the best bars and clubs to go to. Here, you’ll find a helpful rundown of the best gay bars and clubs in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, a place that is synonymous with gay pride and famous for Wilton Manors, one of the most gay-friendly places in the United States.

1. Boardwalk Nightclub

Boardwalk Nightclub in Fort Lauderdale is a gay nightclub that features South Florida’s finest male strippers. Located in the heart of Wilton Manors, Ft. Lauderdale’s longtime gay-friendly neighborhood, Boardwalk is a popular place for the gays of South Florida to get wild, have some drinks and possibly enjoy a cheeky lap dance.

2. Ramrod Ft. Lauderdale

Gay Bar, American, Wine, Beer, Cocktails, Pub Grub

Ramrod was one of the first bars to jump-start the north Ft. Lauderdale/Wilton Manors gay district. Its customers are not all about leather… but Ramrod was voted World’s Best Bar (Leather Category) by GayCities.com. Well known for its over-the-edge music, which is enhanced by an infamous light show every Friday and Saturday after midnight, there’s so much energy here that many people just move, grind and dance until close.

Monkey Business

Another popular Wilton Manors hangout for those who like to get a little bit silly and need a place to truly be themselves is the Monkey Business Bar. Who doesn’t enjoy a good cabaret act? And, if you’re a little kinky, feel free to dress up in a swanky little outfit yourself! The bar staff is friendly, the drinks are strong and the drag shows are truly one of a kind. Don’t spend another night wondering where to go for a little late night fun — Monkey Business is the place to be!

4. The Manor Complex

Nightclub, Cocktails, Wine, Beer

The Manor Complex, Wilton Manor’s mega entertainment venue, is a massive, one stop gay party shop. No doubt the gargantuan grounds attract every demographic known to man — free entry will lure you into WilMa’s hyper-funhouse, which is always packed for Friday night’s Bubble Gum Fridays and Saturday night’s Epic Dance Party. A combination of vintage style and cosmopolitan sophistication engulfs the Epic Nightclub. The two level Nightclub is adorned with an abundance of crystal chandeliers, a covered outside arcade with a modern flair, a large performance stage and the best of the best in sound and lighting.

5. Smarty Pants Bar

Bar, American, Wine, Beer, Cocktails, Pub Grub

Smarty Pants Bar is the oldest ‘alternative lifestyle’ neighborhood bar in Ft. Lauderdale. Formerly ‘The Bushes’, ‘Little Jim’s’ and ‘Simba’s Lounge’, this location has served the LGBT community for over 30 years. With the lowest drink prices in town, the friendliest atmosphere and most hospitable service, Smarty Pants has been referred to as ‘The Cheers’ of Ft. Lauderdale. Making it even better, Smarty Pants is open seven days a week with a daily happy hour from open until 8 p.m. and nightly specials until closing.

6. J's Bar

Bar, American, Beer, Wine, Cocktails, Pub Grub

In need of a quick drink without the hassle of a doorman? J’s Bar will do the trick. Grab a seat at the welcoming bar and order one of the many brews on tap. The bartender will likely hook you up if you become a regular, so loyalty is a must. Located on Davie Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale, this gay and lesbian hangout has all of the key components of an easygoing bar: happy hour specials and tons of bar games, whether it’s poker, karaoke, or dancing to the sick beats of the many DJ’s that perform there.
