If you’ve just moved to Miami or will be staying for a while and really enjoy playing sports, you might want to join a local team! The good news is that Miami actually has some pretty great sports teams for locals. Here are 10 you should look into.

Miami International Coed Soccer Meetup

Want to play some soccer and meet new friends? What’s nice about this team is that it’s co-ed, making it great for meeting and mingling with all kinds of different people. This team meets in South Miami, and games cost about $30, but they also offer prizes like gift cards and medals. Show up and have some fun.

Miami Volleyball Academy

If you’re looking to try your hand at volleyball, this just might be the club for you. The academy offers classes and camps for all ages, ranging from children to young adults. The academy also offers traveling teams for women who are serious about competing. You can opt for indoor or beach volleyball, and private classes are also available. The team aren’t co-ed; men can join the boys’ volleyball teams while women can join the girls’ traveling teams. Joining this academy can help you hone your skills, stay healthy, and meet new people.

Run Club Network

If you really enjoy running in the morning or after a long day of work, join the club. Seriously, you’ll want to join. This club brings together people with a mutual love for running to train and inspire each other. According to the club’s official site, “The Run Club Network is South Florida’s fastest growing scene of people enthusiasts.” There are several run clubs throughout Miami and South Florida, including Kendall, Coral Gables, Weston, and Brickell. Find one near you and join in the fun.


Do you love to cycle and want to find a community of like-minded people who love cycling outdoors as much as you do? Sure, you can opt for a spinning or indoor cycling class, but Miami has such beautiful scenery that it would be great to get outside. CycleHolics brings together riders from all around the city. The club meets three times a month and is open to all levels of cycling. All you need to bring with you is your bike and a positive attitude. Some events even include alcohol, like the club’s “bike pub crawls,” where cyclers come together for a ride and cold brewski.

Paddleboard Miami

Perhaps you’re not into sweating and staying on land, and would rather opt for some water sports. You’re in Miami after all, baby! Take advantage of the Magic City’s gorgeous weather and beautiful beaches by trying out stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). Paddleboard Miami comes together to participate in several different paddleboarding events around the city and get a good workout in. Meet new people and make friends while toning your body. Don’t have paddleboarding gear? No worries. You can rent your equipment hourly and join in on the fun.

Tropical Park Boxing

If you’re looking to get your arms toned and work off a long day at the office, this boxing club is your calling. Women and men can come in and break a sweat with new friends and trainers, who will teach you how to box properly and not get hurt. Boxing happens Monday through Thursday from 4:15-7:15 in one-hour intervals. Members can come in on Friday and Saturday for an “open session” to practice with other members. It cossts $70 per month, or sign a year-long contract and pay just $50 per month, which includes access to boot camp classes too.

Barry’s Bootcamp

Barry Bootcamp isn’t for the faint-hearted, as the workouts here will seriously kick your ass. However, just as SoulCycle has gained traction all across the US, this boutique fitness experience is perfect for the guy or gal looking to be whipped into shape. If you’re new to bootcamp, just give it a go! It’s a great workout and wonderful way to make new fitness-obsessed friends.

Miami and Ft. Lauderdale Dodgeball Group

Remember playing dodgeball in grade school? It was pretty fun, but you probably didn’t know that Miami actually boasts an adult version of the same fun game. All skills are welcome, as are all genders. The club is not so much about competition as meeting new people and having fun. It’s a great thing to look forward to after a hard day at work. You’ll work up a sweat and get that heart racing.

Miami Ultimate Frisbee for Fun

Have you always loved playing frisbee on the beach? Now you can play ultimate frisbee with a bunch of other cool people at this Miami-based sports club. Some people thrive on competition, while others would just rather enjoy a game for the sake of a game and not worry about getting all competitive. This group meets once a week to play ultimate frisbee in Coconut Grove, and is geared towards beginners to intermediate level players aged 25+ for women and 30+ for men.

Barre combines yoga, pilates, and ballet into a serious workout that works small muscle groups to create a tight and toned body. This boutique fitness class offers both genders the chance to come in and have a great workout, but it’s a bit more on the expensive side and tends to lean more female-centric. If you’re looking to join a community of women who are positive and conscious of living healthy lives, this is your tribe. Memberships run about $200, but they include access to unlimited classes. If you’ve ever wanted a dancer’s body, this is the way to go.
