There’s no doubt that you’ll love the views of Pikes Peak from your Days Inn by Wyndham suite, but we have a feeling the kids will be transfixed by something else across Fountain Creek. Manitou Springs Skate Park offers hours of fun right behind the hotel, leaving parents with some much-needed alone time in the pool, hot tub or your suite, behind a Do Not Disturb sign.

The cedar soaking tubs at SunWater Spa are one block north, while porters and pale ales are always on tap at Manitou Brewing Company just three blocks west. If it’s a flip-flop kind of day, just shuffle from your suite to the pool or hot tub and take in the mountain views.

The hot tub jets are always pumping, and the free shuttle to downtown Manitou Springs is always ready to drop you off at the best bars, restaurants and shops in town. The choice is yours, and you’ll have plenty of time to think it over as you look at the mountains from the motel balcony.

Still oozing with all the Victorian opulence of its stagecoach days nearly 150 years ago, Cliff House at Pikes Peak is a lavish hotel in Manitou Springs that will have you living like a celebrity. The Buffalo Bill Suite and Charles Dickens Suite each welcome you with a gas fireplace and either a shower or a two-person spa tub. Flaky rocky mountain trout and savory Colorado chicken breast will leave you pleasantly full, especially if you order up a Cliff House soufflé and vintage port for the table.

6. Silver Saddle Motel

Saddle up for a romantic weekend at the foot of Pikes Peak at Silver Saddle Motel. There’s a king room with a hot tub that you and your partner won’t want to leave. Whenever you can tear yourselves away from the room, the Flying Pig Farm around the corner is a fun, interactive date idea, while the Italian restaurant Savelli’s next door offers a more traditional option. Just don’t Lady-and-the-Tramp your spaghetti – this is a family restaurant, after all.

7. Rainbow Lodge and Inn

Apartment, Cabin

Casually seated between Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City is the Rainbow Lodge and Inn. Settle into a two-bedroom cabin and explore the area on foot at your leisure. Head west for breakfast at Uncle Sam’s Pancake House, then walk to the Garden of the Gods. Fancy a trip east? Take a stroll to Red Rock Canyon Open Space, then relax with some brews at Fossil Craft Beer Company. No matter which direction you choose, you’ll always return to spectacular views of the Garden of the Gods from the pool.

8. Red Wing Motel

This laid-back motel in Manitou Springs, a few blocks from the Garden of the Gods, has an on-site laundromat, smart TVs in every room and a complimentary shuttle so you can explore the town at your own pace. If you’re exploring the area over a long weekend, opt for a classic suite or a two-bedroom suite with a separate living area, a kitchen and a private deck so you can take in that fresh Colorado mountain air.
