It is no mystery that Northern California has beautiful scenery perfect for cinema. With its picturesque beaches, winding roads and green parks full of flora, Northern California is the perfect movie backdrop. Many of us are familiar with movies such as Princess Diaries, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Wedding Planner, The Parent Trap and Sister Act, but do not know specifically where these movies were shot. Below is the list of locations!

Mrs. Doubtfire

When one thinks of movies set in San Francisco, Mrs. Doubtfire is guaranteed to be on that list. Many locations in the movie were filmed in San Francisco; For example, the country club where the family takes a dip in the pool and the Bridges Restaurant where Robin Williams’ character’s identity is revealed. However, the most prominent San Francisco location was the family home. Although there are residents living in this house, locals still gather around the home to take pictures of the lovely San Franciscan home.

The Princess Diaries

This movie, which stars Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews, was mainly set in San Francisco. Most scenes showed off the highlights in San Francisco when the main characters drove up and down the steep streets and the cinematography captured the beautiful skylines. In several scenes, Anne Hathaway’s character, Mia, is seen sitting in her home contemplating her future as the Princess of Genovia. The incredibly cool firehouse, which was her home in the movie, is located in San Francisco and was for sale last year.

The Wedding Planner

The entire love story of The Wedding Planner was shot in the beautiful Bay Area. Although the majority of the movie was shot in San Francisco, one of the most picturesque scenes was shot in the Filoli Gardens in Woodside, California. Jennifer Lopez, who plays the wedding planner, offers Filoli Gardens as a possible wedding site for her clients. During these scenes, the lush greenery and diverse range of flowers are shown off, as well as the large Filoli estate.
