The 6 Best Places To Buy Activewear In LA

Picture of Mary Pettas
Updated: 9 September 2016
Sweating is a way of life on the Westside and all of LA, as there’s a constant serious focus on living a healthy lifestyle. The activewear trend is still going strong, seen prominently in the street styles of LA residents. It’s not just for the gym but also for the grocery store, lunch dates, even for the startup office. Style mavens like models Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid can be seen brunching on Fairfax while paparazzi snap photos of their head-to-toe Adidas sweat suits, complete with all-white sneakers. Steal the look at the plethora of chic workout stores selling activewear in LA.

Lululemon Athletica

It all began here with Lululemon yoga pants popularizing the luxury athletic wear trend in such an impactful way that is has been described as a cult craze. Designer workout gear didn’t use to be a category until body-conscious and yoga devotees started looking for high-quality, and cute, exercise apparel. Lululemon opened its first US store in Santa Monica in 2003, and the rest is history.

Fabletics

Following the trend, celebrity and fitness fanatic Kate Hudson also started a personal brand that explicitly promises to overthrow the high prices of boutiques like Lululemon for the same quality apparel. Fabletics used to be online only, but recently, the company opened up a brick-and-mortar location in the Valley. They offer fashionable separates that pair to form envy-worthy outfits that will make you look like you just stepped out of a trendy barre class.

One of the biggest Nike flagship stores in the country is on the Third Street Promenade, and the two-story warehouse is certainly a sight to behold. They have everything imaginable from every version of their customizable running shoes for men and women to hoodies and sports bras. They even offer free running workshops to the community that partner with Nike+ Running Club to help you become faster and improve your form.

Beyond Yoga

Beyond Yoga is worshiped by the likes of fitness devotees and celebrity yogis Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston. There’s a store in Culver City to serve its high-class clientele, and it’s a great alternative to buying mass-produced products and replacing them with items that are made right here in LA. Beyond Yoga also recently partnered with Kate Spade to put out a new designer leisurewear line. They’ve also partnered with Paltrow’s Goop website to promote their brand, so customers know it has the ultimate stamp of approval.
