Chicago transplant Dayna Haupt took matters into her own hands and opened Dayne’s Chicago Beef and Dawgs to offer the Thousand Oaks area an authentic Italian beef sandwich. This casual restaurant offers a variety of hog dogs (or ‘dawgs’), sandwiches and side dishes. Notable highlights include the ‘Chicago Dawg,’ with mustard, relish, onion, tomato, kosher pickles, sport pepper and celery salt; ‘Da Beef Sandwich,’ with thinly sliced, seasoned Italian beef on a freshly baked Italian roll; and ‘Da Veggie Grinder,’ filled with vegetables, mozzarella, and American cheese.
