Free Entry to the Japanese Tea Garden

Monday 9/28

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, you can get free entry into the Japanese Tea Garden if entering before 10am. Take full advantage of the famous San Francisco ‘Indian summer’ by visiting the oldest public Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park. Enjoy sipping on a wide array of Japanese teas all the while being surrounded by a beautiful serene landscape and a very zen atmosphere.

When: Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday before 10am

People in Plazas: Free Jazz Concerts

People in Plazas is bringing free music to public spaces of San Francisco throughout October, almost every day of the week. This Tuesday, enjoy some free gypsy jazz by Le Hot Jazz or smooth jazz by Groove Guyz at two different locations off of Market Street: Mechanics Plaza or Rincon Center. Have an hour to kill during your lunch break? Why not treat yourself to some free music by two very talented artists?

Yerba Buena Gardens Festival: Chadly & Abdelhadi North African Music

Thursday 10/1

Yerba Buena Gardens is celebrating their 15th year by hosting a free seasonal outdoor festival full of music, dancing, theater, cultural events and children’s shows now through October. Thursdays are set to host the lunch crowd by offering free music. This week, sit back, relax, and groove to the Moroccan-born vocalists and multi-instrumental masters Yassir Chadly and Bouchaib Abdelhadi. They collaborate and show off their unique sounds bringing their knowledge of various North African traditions to the Bay.

California Academy of Sciences Free Day

Friday 10/2

Are you a resident of the Sunset or Parkside district? If so, then you’re in luck. October 2-4, you can get free entry into the California Academy of Sciences. Just bring a valid ID plus proof of residency for admittance. You don’t live in the Sunset or Parkside? Don’t worry, your zip code will get a free day too, just check the calendar for dates.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival

Friday 10/2

This Friday kicks off the 15th annual, three-day Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in the heart of the iconic Golden Gate Park. The entire weekend will feature over 100 artists on 7 different stages, with Friday’s lineup including the famous Jessica Pratt, Johnathan Rice, Laura Marling, and Lee Ann Womack. Make sure to arrive early to mark your territory because 800,000 music fans are estimated to flood the grounds ready to hear some indie tunes and bluegrass superstars.
