West Hollywood’s historic Sunset Tower Hotel takes pets seriously. Opened in 1931, it offers four-legged guests mini Sunset Tower beds, food bowls and edible goodies, as well as access to the William S Hart Dog Park next door, which was given to the hotel by the silent film actor. Two-legged guests, meanwhile, can soak up the old-world glamour of this Hollywood institution, which received a modernizing renovation by hotelier Jeff Klein in the early 2000s. Klein’s major addition, the glamorous rooftop Tower Bar, is one of Los Angeles’ premier celeb-spotting haunts.

2. Dream Hollywood

Pooch-friendly accommodation is available at Dream Hollywood, a super-modern boutique with a rooftop pool and a fitness center designed by celebrity personal trainer Gunnar Peterson. While your furry companion reclines in the room, enjoying sharp interior design by the Rockwell Group, head to sleek rooftop grill the Highlight Room, or enjoy Pan-Asian cuisine at Tao or multi-ethnic dishes at Beauty & Essex. Many rooms and suites have private balconies, and most have unbroken views of Downtown or the hills.

Santa Monica’s Fairmont Miramar welcomes pets to the only beachside bungalows in Los Angeles. Built in traditional SoCal style between 1926 and 1940 and surrounded by tranquil gardens, these luxury properties feature deep La Cava Tubs, private furnished patios and bold designs by Michael Burman. When not playing with your pet(s) on the 3.5-mile-long (5.6km) beach, relax poolside or explore stellar onsite hangouts such as FIG, where chef Jason Prendergast shows off the finest Californian ingredients, or oceanfront lounge the Bungalow, ideal for a sunset cocktail.

Loews’ four-star Santa Monica hotel makes such a fuss of furry guests that their human companions might feel envious. Staff provide place mats, litter trays, beds, scratching posts and toys for four-legged companions, as well as gourmet room service menus for cats and dogs, Pet-In-Room door signs and dog-walking route maps of the neighborhood. Accommodations are spread over 347 soothingly colored rooms and suites, most of which feature views over the Pacific or terraces with fire pits. At Ocean & Wine, cocktails and dishes are emboldened with spicy sauces made by owner Oscar Ochoa.

When not exploring this storied district, you and your tail-wagging charge can hang out in the Riot Bar, which attracted a stream of hardcore rockers throughout the 1970s, or lounge around LA’s highest rooftop pool. Pet-friendly accommodations range from king-bed doubles with views of the Strip or the hills, to a vast Presidential Suite designed by Jonathan Adler.

Hollywood panache trades with French elegance at Beverly Boulevard’s pet-friendly Sofitel Los Angeles. For late-night entertainment and cocktails, settle into the velvet sofas at low-lit Riviera 31, which hosts jazz sessions on Monday evenings, salsa classes on Wednesdays and top local DJs on the weekends. Also on-site are a heated outdoor pool and well-equipped fitness center.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
