Some people might argue that summer never ends in California. Rest assured, fall does make an appearance every year. Before pumpkin decorations start to pop up at stores around town, here are a few events you need to catch before another LA summer is over.

Street Food Cinema

Outdoor movies are a huge summer attraction, especially in Los Angeles. With food trucks galore and an ever-changing lineup of DJs spinning live music, Street Food Cinema is sure meet your expectations. What makes this group particularly exciting is that they showcase different movies in more than one location on a single night. On September 5th, take your pick of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, True Romance or 10 Things I Hate About You during another LA sunset against the palm trees.

Twilight Concerts at The Pier

Since SoCal sunsets are the main attraction for most tourists visiting Los Angeles, make the most of those cotton candy-colored skies with something for your ears as well as your eyes. A top place to catch the perfect sunset is anywhere by the beach, and Santa Monica brings all these elements together at their Twilight Concert Series. Set on the pier but easily enjoyed from right on the beach, this beach town brings free live music every Thursday of the summer. For a taste of New Orleans in California, head over to one of LA’s most famous beaches on September 3rd to catch the Rebrith Brass Band.

Catalina Island

Though technically not part of Los Angeles, a trip to Catalina Island is always a good idea in the summer. Just a short ferry trip away from any of the three main ports near Los Angeles, Catalina Island offers a resort-worthy escape for those wanting that vacation feel without the transportation time. The island offers snorkeling, boat tours and even zip-lining for anyone adventurous enough to sail across the sky. But if relaxation is more your speed, a spa date and sea-side dining is just as inviting.

Rooftop Film Club

If beachside entertainment isn’t your thing for whatever reason, try a rooftop outdoor movie screening. Combine a screening of Old Hollywood with a nighttime view of now-Hollywood and you get the Rooftop Film Club. With locations in London, New York and Los Angeles, there’s clearly a love for movies with a side of urban skyline. Showing classic and contemporary movies until September at the Montálban Theater in the heart of Hollywood, you’re guaranteed to find the film for you. Be sure to check the website since shows sell out well in advance.
