CHURCH is a comedy show for audiences to get much-needed laughs in before getting back to the weekly grind. Revolving hosts Beth Stelling, Sean O’Conner, and Brent Sullivan are all great performers in their own right, but they also feature a diverse line-up of comedians. The show began at an actual church in Highland Park, but now graces the formidable new UCB complex on Sunset. Praise the mic, your prayers have been answered.

Tuesday: Creep Show @ Malo

Creep Show is the newest show on this list, and it’s evolved greatly since its inception. Right now is the best time to dive in, as comedian/loop pedal genius Drennon Davis plays musical emcee with a revolving set of hosts (some of the best local comics performing now). Nestled in the upper attic of hipster Mexican restaurant Malo, the atmosphere recalls an old school stand-up vibe with the velvet and brick décor, complete with fake candles. Dont forget to grab a margarita!

Show starts at 8pm. Free!

4326 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Wednesday: The Meltdown With Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani @ The NerdMelt Showroom

The Meltdown With Jonah and Kumail has grown massively over the years, but remains the best comedy show in Los Angeles, having had two seasons translated to Comedy Central (and a third one on the way). Comedians Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani (the latter currently appears on HBO’s Silicon Valley) take the piss out of each other like brothers as they introduce some of the finest comedians this city (and country) has to offer. They always have surprises up their sleeves, with top drop-ins like Sarah Silverman, Aziz Ansari, and Louis C.K. More than that, Jonah and Kumail, along with powerhouse producer Emily V Gordon, have fostered a tight community that takes the laughs to the next level.

Show starts at 8:30pm. Tickets are $8!
