The 14th annual USF Human Rights Film Festival will commence on March 31st. The festival aims to be a ‘platform to raise consciousness to the violations and abuses of human rights in the U.S. and elsewhere around the globe.’ Films screened will address human rights abuses such as political repression, torture, genocide, killings and disappearances, refugees, migrations, environmental destruction, mining and indigenous women, LGBT rights, and gun violence around the world. The films range from student-produced shorts to prestigious award winners, including a 2016 Academy Award Nominee for best documentary feature. Browse through the films’ descriptions and trailers here. Screenings will take place at USF’s Presentation Theater at Turk Blvd and Masonic Ave. Admission is free and open to the public.
