Updated: 4 October 2016
It’s the 21st annual celebration of ideas, creativity and the written word at the Festival of Books. Held at the University of Southern California, the weekend celebration is the largest literary festival in America, featuring over 500 authors, celebrities, musicians, artists, and chefs, in conversation, performances, and demonstrations throughout the weekend. This year, authors include Joyce Carol Oates, James Patterson, and Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera, who will receive the Robert Kirsch Award for lifetime achievement. Books and merchandise will also be for sale throughout the festival, and attendees can take in street-art installations on display. The Festival itself is free, but tickets are required to attend the variety of conversations and ceremonies throughout the weekend.
