It’s that time of year again, when emerging filmmakers from around the world descend into Los Angeles to showcase their films. The film festival is meant to introduce independent filmmakers and previously-unheard voices into the industry. This year, the festival is showcasing over 58 feature films, along with 58 short films, and 13 short episodic works over the nine days it spans. Along with the slew of films that will be screening, the festival offers filmmaking classes and talks for anyone trying to get into the filmmaking world, as well as panels on a variety of topics that are affecting Hollywood and the movie industry. The festival is put on by the non-profit arts organization Film Independent, and information about some of the filmmakers can be found on their website, in case anyone wants an early look.
