'Dare To Bare' In San Francisco

Picture of Michelle Razavi
Updated: 27 September 2016
Organized by the Movemeant Foundation, this outdoor charity fitness event advocates positive body image and self-acceptance by empowering women to celebrate their bodies. At a time where many young girls are bombarded with unrealistic expectations and inadequate education on healthy, active living, the Movemeant Foundation seeks to establish a new status quo of body positive women. Funds raised by the foundation’s flagship event go towards offering grants to schools, communities, and other non-profit organizations—providing women throughout the country with the opportunity to be physically active and confident.

About the Event

Each participant receives a sports bra and is encouraged to wear it however they feel comfortable—with a shirt or without! Attendees can learn how to dance like Beyoncé, strengthen their core and upper body with TRX suspension training, and challenge themselves with bootcamp workouts.

For those interested in taking a spin class outside, you can also fundraise and ride with the city’s most popular SoulCycle instructors. Each rider will receive not only admission to the festival and a Dare to Bare-branded sports bra, but also an additional goodie bag containing sunglasses, beverages, and snacks to make their ride even more successful. Plus, they will also receive one free guest pass for a friend! Spots are filling up fast, so make sure you register soon to guarantee your ride.

In between and after the workouts, participants can sample healthy snacks, drink coconut water, and receive free goodies from the partners. This event is also family friendly, so kids are encouraged to come with their parents. There will be organic juices, teas, and acai bowls for everyone to enjoy and refuel in between activities.

With the weather warming up, San Franciscans can enjoy their weekends outside and in the sunshine. Last year, over 700 women and some men came to the Dare to Bare Festival in the Marina Green to enjoy the day’s fitness activities and, more importantly, to take part in the movement. If you’re looking for an all-inclusive, healthy event to check out, the Dare to Bare event is not one to be missed!

How to Register
