After closure in 2013, an expanded and remodeled San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is set to reopen on May 14th. Among the premier museums for contemporary art, this grand reopening is being met with much excitement and anticipation by San Franciscans. The ten-story expansion will leave the museum with nearly three times as much gallery space as the original building, allowing the display of many more of its holdings for the museum’s ever-growing community. Thanks to all the new exhibition space, the museum will open with 19 special exhibitions. The re-opening will commence free access to all ground floor galleries and free admission for anyone 18 and under. Free opening day tickets are now sold out, but tickets for future admission are now available for purchase online.
