Come celebrate the 40th annual Frameline Festival, a legendary showcase of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender cinema, featuring groundbreaking documentaries, features, touching short films and cinematic classics. Frameline40 opens with Kiki, a vibrant documentary that fast-forwards to the ballroom scene of today: an unapologetically flamboyant and political subculture centered on LGBTQ youth of color, for whom dance is far more than performance. Centerpiece films—one US feature, one world cinema, and one documentary—anchor the middle of the festival. Various showcases will be screened throughout, handpicked by the festival programmers from hundreds of outstanding films. The festival will close with Looking, the movie which reunites the show’s sexy San Franciscans in a romantic drama that delivers the sweet satisfaction of closure. The screenings will take place at various locations. Check out the full schedule of events and film screenings here.
