Film Con Hollywood

What: Film Con is a chance for young creators (and aspiring creators) to come together and connect with other people looking for like-minded collaborators. This event also hosts a film competition for student filmmakers, with the grand prize winners in every category receiving $3,000 to help finance their next project. Film buffs and cinephiles are also welcome to attend the event, which will feature Q&As and panels with industry professionals from studios—such as Disney and Netflix—workshops, networking, pitching opportunities, and more.
The ipsy Gen Beauty Convention

What: The ipsy Gen Beauty convention is a place for beauty lovers (or “ipsters,” as the brand likes to call their fans) to meet up and divulge their passion for one another. What: A convention for self-proclaimed food lovers, Foodie Con bills itself as “Comic-Con for foodies” and promises two days of shopping and educational events. During these events, both professional and amateur foodies will connect with the newest trends in eating and making food and some of the most talented local chefs, food trucks, craft breweries, and more. RuPaul’s DragCon 2018

What: This three-day event is a celebration of art, pop culture, and all things drag. DragCon, an homage to the cult following of its icon, RuPaul, features talents and panels, more than 300 vendors and even a kid zone because it’s a family-friendly weekend. What: An all-out nerdfest for fans of Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse), WhedonCon is something of a cult event. The three-day convention includes cosplay contests and panels (fandom convention staples), in addition to talent meet and greets, autograph sessions, live music, and a special party called “The Prom at The Bronze.” Prices vary depending on the selected package and how many days guests want to attend, but more information is available at the WhedonCon website.

Anime Pasadena 2018

What: An anime nerd’s dream come true, this convention welcomes fans of anime and cosplay and bills itself as a “local alternative to Anime conventions hundreds of miles away.” Anime Pasadena boasts a list of attractions, including more than 120 vendors, cosplay contests, “nerd karaoke,” live music, anime and cosplay panels, and more.
