Rachel Zoe is a powerful figure in the fashion world, and is one of the most influential Los Angeles-based designers helping to put the city on the map for high fashion. She is not only a designer of her own clothing lines, but also a stylist and editor who has made a name for herself through her distinguished work with high-profile celebrities and fashion houses. She is best known for her signature boho-chic style that she popularized amongst socialites. Here are some other essential facts you should know about celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe.

She changed her name

Her real full name is Rachel Zoe Rosenzweig. She dropped her original last name, worrying it sounded ‘too Jewish’. So she adopted her middle name as her trademark instead, and it’s become the basis for her fame and brand.

She had a show on Bravo for five seasons called the Rachel Zoe Project, which focused on her career and personal life and the building of her luxury brand. The reality show followed her and her husband around LA and back and forth from New York for business: very glamorous.

Her home is as stylish as her clothes

She lives in Beverly Hills, although she had an apartment in West Hollywood as well. Her mansion has been featured in magazine spreads and on ABC. She previously lived in the high-profile Sierra Towers building with the likes of Cher, Elton John, and Joan Collins.

She never trained as a designer

She technically has no formal fashion training. Rather, she moved to New York after college and rose through the ranks at various magazines, primarily working as an editor.

Her background is more scientific

She went to George Washington University and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology and sociology. She met her future husband during her time here, investment banker Rodger Berman, who is also the president of her self-titled company.

She might have invented ‘Boho Chic’

Her retro 70s vintage-bohemian style is characterized by flowing dresses and locks and oversized sunglasses. The look is meant to say ‘I woke up like this’ and was propagated mainly by Zoe herself and her top client, Nicole Richie.

She’s a boyband’s favourite stylist

She has styled everyone from the Backstreet Boys in the 2000s to Jennifer Lawrence and Cameron Diaz now, among many others. She’s collaborated with countless brands on collections inspired by her personal style, such as her range of accessories which are available for purchase on QVC.
