This fairly new restaurant is owned by Al Jabarin. He launched Calwine.com in 1993, when websites for wine ecommerce were just beginning. Jabarin took his love for wine and paired it with a passion for fine dining, and this project eventually grew to become 1313 Main in Downtown Napa. Because of Jabarin’s relationships in the wine industry, the restaurant houses over 2,000 wine labels, making it one of the most well-rounded dining experiences in California wine country.
Executive Chef Adam Ross has worked in kitchens in Denver, Hawaii, New York and the Bay Area. After his time at Ad Hoc and The Restaurant at Meadowood, he took the head chef position at 1313 Main. He was joined by Advanced Sommelier Jordan Nova (who is only 26 years old) in 2013.
Collectively, the team of Al Jabarin, Adam Ross, and Jordan Nova have led 1313 Main to a number of awards. AAA recently selected the restaurant as a Four Diamond–rating award winner for 2015, and 1313 Main also holds a Wine Spectator Best Award of Excellence.
The space is located right on Main Street (hence the name 1313 Main), and its interior is sleek and modern. Part of the wine collection is displayed along the walls, and the darker, refined space matches the quality of the food. While the interior of the restaurant may feel more conducive to late-night dining, the restaurant’s brunch menu should not be forgotten. The back outdoor patio provides the option for a lighter atmosphere to enjoy Napa’s incredible weather and the restaurant’s first-class brunch.
The menu consists of classic brunch items such as chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, and ‘The Old School’, a combination of eggs, buttermilk pancakes, and bacon. For a more luxurious brunch, the restaurant offers lobster Benedict, featuring Model Bakery’s famous English muffins, duck confit hash, and potato latkes. The ricotta pancakes offer a new twist to an old classic, and the recipe is traced back to Adam Ross’s mother’s creation. The brunch is a combination of the luxurious and the homey, but the absolute highlight of the brunch is the Bloody Mary bar. The bar is presented tableside for you to pick out your own set of garnishes, with options varying from candied bacon and blue cheese–stuffed olives to puffed beef chips and black lava salt from Moloka’i, Hawaii. The cocktails themselves are made from 1313 Main’s own tomatoes that the restaurant grows and harvests specifically for the Bloody Mary.
1313 Main stands true to its values of locally sourced food and affordable luxury. The seasonal brunch menu would be a highlight to any weekend in Napa.
