In a conversation held at the Brooklyn Central Library, the Slovenian philosopher and British novelist spoke about Žižek’s new book: Refugees, Terror and Other Troubles with the Neighbors: Against the Double Blackmail.

On Monday night, the Slovenian philosopher and cultural critic Slavoj Žižek sat down with British novelist and journalist Hari Kunzru in what was expected to be a lively conversation. While the event was initially to be focused on Žižek’s new book Refugees, Terror and Other Troubles with the Neighbors: Against the Double Blackmail, the circumstances leading up to the event, including Žižek’s controversial endorsement of Donald Trump, and the latter’s unexpected ascendence five days earlier to the office of the American presidency, charged the discussion with the blackest of humor, and pushed it in unexpected directions.
