Craig & Kris DeMarco partnered up with Wyatt & Lauren Bailey to create Upward Projects. These neighborhood projects took historic buildings on Central Ave and gave them a second life, combining homey vibes and a connection to community roots with incredible food and drinks. Take an evening to check out the results, starting at Postino for appetizers, heading to one of three restaurants for dinner, and finishing with dessert at Churn.

Postino WineCafe

Postino is a casual wine bar modeled after the owners’ experience in a small town in Italy. This legendary cafe will make any lunch break or after work wine date worth it. Postino provides comfortable seating and fireplaces to make the whole experience complete. Try the bruschetta and the crème brûlée and you won’t be disappointed.

Federal Pizza

The vibe of Federal is like no other — it’s loud and busy, but the energy is just what you need after finishing a long day at work. The staff is welcoming and more than happy to answer any question about every pizza. Casanova and Brussels Sprout pizza is the most recommended… Don’t knock it until you try it! Wine coolers and beer on tap are the drinks to look out for while dining in. If you’re in a hurry, you can even go through the drive-thru that used to be an old bank teller’s building. If not, Federal offers free valet.

Locals describe Windsor as upscale and hip. The menu is small but big in taste, and the drinks are to die for. The staff is laid back, creating an ambiance that, combined with wine and burgers, is perfect for a night out after work or with a significant other. If you want to add a little kick to your night, try the Verde Mary. If you come for breakfast, start your day with the incredible cinnamon roll. The outdoor patio is the place to be — it’s even dog friendly.

Joyride Taco House

At Joyride the staff is energetic, the food is out of this world and the drinks are some of the best on Central. The colors and decor are welcoming, promising to bring your mood up in an instant. Joyride is very customer service–orientated, and the staff will always let you know about personal favorites. The fish tacos are the best in the game, and you can’t beat the $5 before 5pm margaritas — the Prickly Pear Margarita is the house favorite. If you want to end the night at Joyride, make sure you end it with the churros and chocolate sauce.

Ice cream and yogurt made onsite at Churn? Count us in. This ice cream shop combines with an old school candy shop to take you back and make you remember your first bite of ice cream. With the ice cream selection rotating daily, you never know what exactly you’ll get when you walk in. You can even up your ice cream game by turning your favorite flavor into a sundae or milkshake! The cookie sandwich (warmed up!) is a local favorite, and you can get delicate toasted marshmallow fluff on top of any ice cream. Finish up your night sipping on a cup of coffee and browsing the old school games and candy.
