As the largest city in Mexico and the first part of the country to legalize same-sex marriage, Mexico City is a popular destination for LGBTQ travelers. From chic hotels near the Zona Rosa gay district to ecofriendly retreats away from the heart of the capital, these places to stay in Mexico City offer travelers a range of options – bookable on Culture Trip.

As well as a vast metropolis, Mexico City is also a cosmopolitan urban center. It has long been at the forefront of gay and lesbian rights in Mexico – the first pride march in the country was held here in 1979 – and it’s a great place for finding a wide variety of LGBTQ-friendly hotels. From relaxed guest houses to sharp establishments that look like they’re straight out of a glossy magazine, there’s something for everyone in Mexico City.

Three restaurants serve food from all over the world, including Mexican fare, while the enormous spa includes an adults-only indoor pool. It’s also super-close to Chapultepec Park, a vast expanse of urban greenery.

Inviting terraces, alive with nail-polish pink bougainvillea and beautifully built wooden walkways add to the charm, creating sweet spots for a coffee or a glass of malbec. Jet-lagged? In-room massages are available, even though there’s a spa too, and if you feel full of life, there are outdoorsy activities such as horse riding. Admire those views you’ll never tire of through the floor-to-ceiling windows as you eat your healthy organic scrambled eggs with green mole sauce, which has a nutty flavor and contains pumpkin seeds.

Its private rooms in the Polanco neighborhood, east of the Zona Rosa, feature minibars with gourmet products, although there’s also an on-site bar-restaurant. The suites offer a French-style bathtub, a kitchenette and a living and dining area. Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet.
