More mellow than neighboring Huatulco, Puerto Escondido is a small fishing village and surfers haven that in the past 20 years has boomed as a favorite spot for tourists on the Oaxacan coast. While still less of a luxury crowd, the town now offers more food, drink and entertainment that it ever has in the past and has a wide range of hotels to suit different budgets and travel styles.
