Before becoming the successful restaurant that it is today, San Angel Inn had multiple purposes. At one time it was a monastery, then it became a center to produce pulque (an alcoholic beverage made from cacti) and finally it became a hotel with a restaurant. Since this typically Mexican restaurant is so popular, it is advisable to make reservations, even for breakfast, where there is an excellent menu including all types of eggs, Mexican delicacies, and delectable baked goods.
