Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum is home to one of the largest (and most important) collections of Mexican textiles in the world, but they are rarely displayed. This May, that’s all changing, as the ROM takes over an entire gallery to showcase this remarkable collection with ¡Viva México! Clothing & Culture
. Explore the evolution of Mexican fashion – and history – through over 150 historic and contemporary pieces on display. From entire costume ensembles, to sarapes, rebozos, textiles, embroidery, beadwork, and more, discover how the textile arts spans centuries. ‘From the iconic to the innovative’ ¡Viva México! promises to ‘ explode with colour, regional diversity, and bold Mexican style.’
Cost: this exhibition is included with general admission tickets, available here.
