The Fairmont Royal York is Toronto’s most historic hotel and an important landmark in the city. You can travel with your small dog or cat (up to 20 pounds) for an additional fee of $25 per day. They request that you don’t leave your pet alone in the room, it should be leashed or in a cage in all common areas. If your pet is over 20 pounds, deluxe rooms are recommended. Pets are not allowed on every floor (there are some hypoallergenic sections of the hotel), so be sure to enquire in advance of availability.
At the Renaissance, pets are allowed for an extra charge of $50. This well-situated hotel is built into the Rogers Centre (formerly the SkyDome), which is the home stadium of the Toronto Blue Jays. Of the 348 rooms, 70 have wide windows that overlook the playing field, so that guests can have a bird’s eye view of the baseball game or concert below.
In the heart of downtown Toronto, this large (1,400-room) hotel is close to all of the city’s major attractions. Dogs up to 40 pounds are welcome to stay, and will receive a special welcome pack and Sweet Sleeper doggy bed upon arrival. If you’re in need of a dog sitter, the hotel can also arrange this for you.
Pets, namely cats and dogs up to 30 pounds, can enjoy the luxuries of the Ritz-Carlton for an additional $150 per stay. Pets must remain leashed or stay in the room as you enjoy the hotel’s spa and fitness centre, professional hair and makeup services, and the pool surrounded by views of the city.
Pets up to 50 pounds are welcome at the Intercontinental for an additional $50 per day, plus a $50 one-time cleaning fee. The business-oriented Novotel Toronto permits one small animal per room without any additional fees. There are also additional benefits: dogs receive a Royal Canine welcome kit that comes with treats, food and water bowls, a Frisbee, and a leash and scoop bags. Cats are also greeted with a Novotel Pet Welcome Kit. Dogs can be kept in your room and you can put up a “Friendly Pet Asleep” sign on the door to advise housekeeping.
